Our commitment
We believe that access to information about a debt, and to the tools that allow a consumer to exercise their rights, must not depend on a person's abilities or the technology they use. Accessibility is part of our compliance program, not an afterthought.
Conformance target
This website is designed and evaluated against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 AA is the recognized international standard for web accessibility and covers requirements for perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust content.
We aim for substantial conformance across all public pages and consumer-facing tools. Areas that are still being remediated or that rely on third-party components are noted under "Known limitations" below.
Ongoing efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing process. The measures we take include, at a minimum:
- Using semantic HTML, landmarks, and heading structure so screen readers can navigate content correctly.
- Ensuring text and interactive elements meet WCAG contrast ratios in both light and default color settings.
- Providing visible keyboard focus and supporting full keyboard navigation of interactive components.
- Providing text alternatives for meaningful images and icons.
- Labeling form fields, describing errors clearly, and announcing status changes with live regions.
- Respecting user preferences for reduced motion.
- Reviewing new features and content updates against WCAG 2.1 AA before release.
- Testing with common assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.
- Providing training to designers, engineers, and content contributors.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some content on this website may not yet fully meet the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria. Known limitations include:
- Historical documents provided by third parties (such as validation letters) may not be tagged for accessibility. On request, we will provide an accessible alternative.
- Certain embedded third-party components (for example, a payment processor's hosted forms) are controlled by the vendor and may present accessibility issues outside our direct control. We work with vendors to remediate these issues and can offer an alternate channel where necessary.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, we want to hear about it so we can address it and provide an accessible alternative in the meantime.
